Angel Developments has unveiled plans for a 67 storey residential tower at 239-247 Yonge Street in Downtown Toronto. Situated near the intersection of Yonge and Shuter streets, the development is located immediately east of the Eaton Centre, the city's busiest shopping mall and tourist destination.

Currently, the site is home to several low-rise commercial buildings, including the heritage-designated Art Metropole building at 241 Yonge.

Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, the tower would rise to a height of 221 metres, and include 774 market-rate rental units. The project also would feature a three-storey podium that integrates the restored facade of the historic Art Metropole building. This heritage element will serve as the tower’s west-facing entrance, while the remaining Yonge Street frontage will consist of five distinct retail buildings, designed to integrate into the existing street wall of the corridor.

Located within two Major Transit Station Areas, between Dundas and Queen subway stations, no vehicular parking is planned as part of the development and will instead add 697 long-term and 155 short-term bicycle spaces for residents, along with 18 additional bicycle spaces for retail users.

The proposed tower at 239-247 Yonge Street is the latest among a wave of new developments along a rapidly intensifying stretch of Yonge Street in Downtown Toronto, and would stand as one of the city’s tallest rental towers if completed today.
