Exterior work at One Bloor West is approaching completion, marking a major milestone for one of Toronto’s most anticipated and closely watched developments.
Rising 308-metres from the south-west corner of Yonge and Bloor, the 85-storey skyscraper (formerly known as The One), has become a defining feature of the city’s evolving cityscape since entering construction in 2017.
In June 2025, the project officially surpassed the 300-metre mark, becoming Canada’s first supertall skyscraper — a designation reserved for buildings exceeding 300 metres in height. It has since been joined, and surpassed in height, by Pinnacle SkyTower.
Since reaching that milestone, the tower has topped out at its final height, and a Tuned Mass Damper — a critical structural component designed to mitigate wind-induced sway — has been installed at the top of the building.
As of May 2026, visible progress continues across the building’s exterior. Sections of the Rail Climbing System (RCS), which has enclosed portions of the tower throughout construction while crews installed glazing and façade systems, are now being dismantled. Their removal reveals more of the tower’s finished exterior and signals that construction is entering its final stages.
One of the final major exterior components still underway is the installation of cladding around the crown and mechanical enclosure at the top of the tower. Once complete, the building’s final architectural form will be revealed.
The journey to this stage has not been without significant challenges. Originally developed by Mizrahi Developments, the project underwent a major transition in 2025 when Tridel assumed oversight of construction and residential sales efforts. The change marked a pivotal turning point for the development after years of financial pressures and construction delays.
One Bloor West was designed by Foster + Partners in collaboration with Core Architects. Its distinctive exoskeleton structure and unconventional engineering systems have made it one of the most technically complex skyscrapers ever constructed in Toronto. The building will contain retail space, a hotel, and luxury residential condominiums.
While exterior completion is expected later in 2026, residential sales have not yet officially launched under Tridel’s management. Interim occupancy is anticipated to begin in spring 2027, with full project completion projected for early 2028.
